Program Structure
The Culinary School programs are generally delivered ten-week terms. Our current program is being offered as a six-week term, with each week featuring a new product, technique and opportunity to develop practical skills. Program duration, recipes and learning activities may vary between terms, allowing returning participants to continue building their abilities while experiencing new menus and challenges.
CERTIFICATE
Participants will receive a The Culinary School Certificate of Completion after successfully completing each six-week term.
Building Capacity Through Practical Learning
The Culinary School NDIS Program is designed to support capacity building through meaningful, hands-on activities. Baking provides participants with opportunities to strengthen their existing abilities, develop new skills and work towards individual goals relating to daily living, independence, communication, confidence and community participation. Through each class, participants can work towards developing:
Our chefs provide clear, step-by-step guidance while adapting activities to suit different abilities, learning styles and support needs. Participants are encouraged to build on their skills each week, take on greater responsibility and recognise their own progress and achievements.
Cooking With a Side of Connection
Participants will work alongside others in a welcoming and inclusive kitchen environment, creating opportunities to practise communication, teamwork and positive social interaction.
By sharing responsibilities, asking for assistance, supporting others and celebrating achievements together, participants can build confidence and feel part of a supportive community.

More Than Just Baking
The Culinary program is about much more than following a recipe. Each class has been thoughtfully designed to encourage learning through practical experience. Participants are supported to understand each stage of the baking process, make choices, solve problems, complete tasks and take pride in the products they create.
Throughout the program, participants will explore new ingredients, flavours, textures and techniques while developing an understanding of:
- Food preparation and presentation
- Kitchen safety and personal hygiene
- Following recipes and step-by-step instructions
- Weighing, measuring and portioning ingredients
- Using kitchen tools and equipment safely
- Cleaning and maintaining an organised workspace
- Managing time and completing tasks
- Preparing food with greater confidence and independence
